Lakewood Country Club announced as the host for the 2010 Women's Amateur Championship site
Lakewood Country Club in Russell Springs, KY will be the site for the 84th Women's State Amateur Championship. Start making your plans to play and mark your calendars now for June 21 - 25, 2010.
Tournament Headquarters will be at Lake Cumberland State Resort Park. There are rooms blocked at the hotel and reservations should be made EARLY! All of the cottages are booked for this week. The link for tournament headquarters is: http://www.parks.ky.gov/findparks/resortparks/lc/

2009 Senior Amateur Championship Tournament
Congratulations to Mrs. Beth Curlin, winner of the 30th Senior Women's Amateur Championship. The tournament was held at Eagle's Nest Country Club, September 15 and 16.

8th USGA Women's State Team Championship
The 8th bi-annual USGA Women's State Team Championship was held September 1-3, 2009 at Sycamore Hills Golf Club in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Sami M. Wilson, Krissy Martin and Susan Loyd represented our state and finished tied for 38th. For all results and stories regarding the tournament see Women's State Team.
Finals at the State Amateur
All matches ended today with exciting conclusions. In the Championship match, Lydia Gumm and April Emerson had everyone on the edge of their seats as they completed a 21 hole match with April Emerson as the 2009 Champion. Our congratulations to all players who competed during the finals. All matchplay results.

State Farm Insurance Welcomed as the 2009 Women's Amateur Championship Sponsor
In February, the Board began negotiations with Ms. April Pruitt, Agent Recruiter, of State Farm Insurance to become the Association's first official sponsor of the Women's State Amateur Championship. The partnership that we have formed affords the Association the benefit of keeping our tournament fees at an extremely reasonable rate. The Amateur Championship will allow State Farm Insurance the opportunity to support women athletes as well as raise awareness of the State Farm brand and agent opportunity.
2009 Amateur Tournament Sites Announced
The Board is pleased to announce the 2009 Amateur Championship Sites:
Cherry Blossom Golf Club in Georgetown will host the Women's Amateur Championship. The dates for the tournament are June 22 - 26. All tournament information is now available, including printable entry information is available from this site.
Eagle's Nest Country Club will play host to the Senior Women's Amateur Championship. The dates for the tournament are September 14 - 16.
2009 Friends of Coal Fred Allen Championship
The Fred Allen Championship will be held July 13 and 14 at the University Club of Kentucky - Wildcat Golf Course. The event is a four ball stroke play competition and will feature Champioship, Senior and Women's Divisions. The WKSGA Board encourage all women to consider making this tournament part of their summer schedule.
Committee and Board Positions
Two current Board positions have been vacated - Vice President and Region 5 Director. President Annette Nimmo is appointing someone to the Director position. Evaluation of the Vice President position and how best to complete the current term is underway.
Tournament Sites
The Board is accepting site bids for both the Amateur and the Senior Amateur. Clubs wishing to host either of these tournaments can download information and application from the Membership page. For additional information or letters of reference, Judy Lyle, Executive Secretary or any Board member (see contact page).

2008 Senior Women's Amateur Championship
Congratulations to Miss Anne Combs, the 2008 Senior Women's Champion with a two-day total of 147. Mrs. Charlotte Logsden was the runner-up with 149. All results can be found at 2008 Senior Amateur.
2008 State Amateur Championship:
The Championship week concluded on June 27 with a great championship match between Laura Anderson and Beverly Games. Congratulations go to Miss Laura Anderson who won the match on the 18th hole. Daily results from the qualifying round and all matches can be found at 2008 RESULTS.
