8th USGA Women's State Team Championship
The USGA will host the 8th bi-annual Women’s State Team Championship September 1-3, 2009 at Sycamore Hills Golf Club in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
In order to participate in the USGA State Team Championship you must submit an application for selection. The WKSGA will select a three person (with alternates) team based on the applications submitted prior to the deadline. A female wishing to submit an application must do so within accordance of the application guidelines as established by the WKSGA. Collegiate players are NOT eligible due to NCAA rules.
The team commitment form for Kentucky has been submitted and hotel reservations have been made. We now need a team. Please consider representing the state in this event. Applications must be received by July 31.
WKSGA Selection Process:
Three women golfers will be chosen to represent the state of Kentucky.
Team members must be amateur golfers, female at birth, who are permanent residents of Kentucky. College players are restricted by the NCAA rules from participating. The selection will be based on a player's performance in competitive events. To be considered for the 2009 team, a candidate must have played in at least one of the following:
- 2006, 2007, 2008 Kentucky Senior Women's Amateur Championship,
- 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 Women's Kentucky State Amateur Championship
- 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 Kentucky Women's Open
In order to be considered for one of the three spots on the team, a player must submit an application provided by the WKSGA. On the application, a player will list all tournaments that she played in from June 2005 through July 2009 and provide information about the length of the course and her score and finish in the tournament.

Tournament Format
The format is 54 holes of stroke play. The lowest two scores of each team shall count in each round. The team with the lowest score for 54 holes will be champion. Any tie will be played-off as follows:
- Use the third player's score for the final round.Use the third player's score for the second round.Use the third player's score for the first round.
- If still tied, joint winners will be declared.
If it is not possible to complete 54 holes of play in the period in which the Championship is scheduled, the Championship shall not be extended beyond the last scheduled day and the winner shall be the Team which returns the lowest score for the number of stipulated rounds played. The Committee may institute a cut in order to play the last stipulated round.
Expenses
Teams in the championship fall under Rule 4-2d of the Rules of Amateur Status. Each team may therefore accept a reasonable amount of expenses from its golf association. Before August 29, expenses may not be accepted for team practice anywhere. Receipts from each player must be submitted to the WKSGA Executive Secretary upon return from the Team Championship.
